How to create a segment of users converting or dropping off at any funnel stage

Modified on Mon, 14 Jul at 5:23 AM

This feature makes it simple to create user segments based on whether they convert or drop off at any point in a funnel, allowing for focused engagement with these users.

To create a segment, begin by either creating a new funnel or selecting one from the Funnel list dropdown menu. After selecting your funnel, click on the “Create Segment” button.

A “Create Segment” window will pop up. Here, you can name your segment.

Next, select your segment type from the following options:

  • Static: This option includes users only within the specified date range (includes the date range selected in the filter option while generating funnel preview) and will not update automatically.
  • Precomputed: This option updates automatically based on the number of days in the selected date range. For instance, if you set a funnel from May 1 to May 31, your precomputed segment will refresh to include data from the last 30 days. In contrast, a static segment will only show data from May 1 to May 31 without any updates.

Next, from the dropdown menu, decide whether you want to segment users who have dropped off or those who have converted at any stage of the funnel.

For example, if you choose “Converted Users,” the system will show the funnel steps along with the number of users who converted at each step.

Next, pick the specific funnel step for which you want to create a segment. At the bottom of the window, you’ll see a segment definition that includes relevant user properties.

Lastly, click “Create” to finalize your segment. To view and manage it, head to the “Segment” section in the panel. You can then utilize this segment for targeting users through campaigns or automated journeys.

By following these steps, you can effectively segment and engage users based on their behavior within your funnel, improving your targeting strategies.
