Frequency capping is an easy method to avoid spamming users. It helps define the frequency of messages the users receive within a specific period. i.e. in a day, a month or a week. Also, you can define a time gap between the successive campaigns.
How is it helpful for you:
1. It enables you to determine how effectively you can engage users through various channels in a short period.
2. You can resolve many issues such as the number of campaigns to be sent in a day; what if the users receive too many notifications or multiple promotional campaigns in a day.
How To Configure Frequency Capping In NotifyVisitors
1. Navigate to the Settings then scroll down and find Frequency Capping
2. Now you will find different variables of frequency capping settings :
Let’s understand them one by one
Channels: It defines a specific channel through which you will send messages to the users. (push, email, or SMS ). You can choose to turn on the channel through which you will send messages.
Total messages: It signifies the frequency of the messages for a specific channel or all channels combined.
Total messages in days: Determine the frequency of days. That means the number of messages a user will receive within a specific day or days through a specific channel or all the channels combined.
How To Set Up Frequency Capping
Setting up a frequency cap is easy. You have to specify an upper limit to the number of messages a user can receive through a particular channel or all channels combined.
Note: Remember that the frequency of messages for all the channels must be evenly distributed so that it should be equivalent to the total no. of sent messages. If the frequency is not equal or higher, the rest of the messages will not be delivered.
Now, determine the time gap between your messages, after which a user will receive your messages. The time gap must be in minutes, hours or days.
Note: If the user does not pass the frequency capping rule, the message will not be sent to the user and it will be discarded.
Note: The channel's time gap must be evenly distributed to come up equivalent to the time gap of all the combined channels.
If you have configured the Frequency capping in the Settings section, you still have an option to disable it for any particular campaign. All you have to do is Choose NO while setting tracking rules on the Recipients stage.
How To Disable Frequency Capping in Email Campaign
To disable the feature of Frequency Capping for Email campaigns follow the below steps
1. Navigate to the NotifyVisitors dashboard> Campaigns.
2. Next, click on Email given under the Reach users Via category.
3. You can disable the “Frequency Capping” in email in two ways :
In the first way, you can disable the frequency capping feature while creating a new campaign. You can find this option on the first page i.e, Recipients.
Now, scroll down to the tracking section. Here you can simply disable the Frequency Capping.
In a second way, you can navigate directly to the EDIT section of any already created campaign and then go to the Recipients section.
Here we are navigating to the EDIT section of an already created campaign to disable the frequency capping. Follow the below steps for the same :
Next, move to the recipients and scroll down to the tracking section to find the “frequency capping” ( same as the first way) and choose No to disable the frequency capping.
Now that you know the step-by-step process to set up frequency capping and time gap for a specific channel or all the channels combined. You can easily go through the process of managing all your message campaigns effectively.
Note: The frequency capping option is available for all the Channels. And can be configured in the same way
