Overall WhatsApp campaign analysis

To monitor the effectiveness of your WhatsApp marketing efforts, simply go to the NotifyVisitors Dashboard and select the “Campaigns” section. From there, click on the WhatsApp tab located under the engagement category.

Here you will get a thorough analysis of your WhatsApp campaigns. 

Filter

Before we jump into the analytics, it's important to familiarize ourselves with some filter tools. These tools are crucial for sorting through data and simplifying the process of evaluating performance.

1. Date range

Simply click on the date range dropdown and select a date range according to your preference from the available options.

2. Delivery type

You can choose to filter your data based on the delivery type. There are three options available:

One-time: This option includes all your broadcast WhatsApp campaigns set to be delivered only once. Once you select this option, you will have another filter option called “segment.” Here, you can choose a specific segment, and all one-time broadcast campaigns sent to that segment will be filtered.

Recurring: This option will filter out all your recurring WhatsApp broadcast campaigns i.e. campaigns which are designed to send out repeated WhatsApp messages at specific dates and times.

Journey: This option will filter out the analytics of all your WhatsApp campaigns sent via a journey. After selecting this option, you will see another dropdown titled "Journey" to filter your analytics for a specific journey.

3. Label

Lastly, you have the option to sort analytics according to your custom labels. If you're not familiar with labels, click here for more information. In summary, you can assign labels to your WhatsApp campaigns to categorize them based on specific criteria. Once labels are assigned, you can utilize this filtering feature to easily view analytics for all campaigns with a particular label.

KPIs (Key performance indicators)

Next, after the filter options, the page shows some major performance indicators, including the total number of messages sent, delivered, read, and unique clicks. Further, you can see the total number of users engaged, campaigns sent, transactions as well as total revenue generated over the selected period.

These performance indicators will vary depending on your filter options.

WhatsApp report

As you continue to scroll down, you will come across a section labeled “WhatsApp report.” This section displays all your WhatsApp campaigns, whether sent from Journey or Broadcast modes. The report provides key performance indicators for each campaign, such as sent, delivered, read, unique clicks, orders, and order revenue.

By clicking on the campaign name, you can access more detailed information and in-depth analysis of that particular campaign. We will delve into the campaign-wise report later in this article.

Additionally, there is a search bar located at the top right of this section to help you find a specific campaign quickly.

Modewise report

Moving forward, we have Modewise reports that enable you to compare your campaigns sent via different modes such as one-time, recurring, journey, etc. These reports also provide important performance indicators for comparison, such as sent, delivered, read, and more, to analyze which mode is more effective.

Labelwise report

The next labelwise report section will assist you in comparing the performance of each label category. For instance, you can create a label "Transactions" for all your WhatsApp messages related to transactions and the label "Promotions" for all your promotional messages. And in this labelwise report section you can easily compare the performance of both label groups. Take a look at the example below to see how it works.

Activity trends

This section shows the trends for your WhatsApp campaigns, including the number of messages sent, delivered, read, and unique clicks. By default, the trends are displayed on a daily basis. However, you can easily change the time frame by selecting the dropdown above and choosing weekly, monthly, or annual options.

The trends can be viewed in a line graph or bar graph. You can change the graph type by clicking on the graph icons provided in the top right corner. Additionally, you can hover your cursor over any trend of a particular day/week/month/year, depending upon your graph type, to view statistics, as shown below.

WhatsApp heatmap

WhatsApp heatmap shows the activities of users at a particular time of the day. The purpose of a heatmap is to reveal at which time the users are engaging the most, allowing you to send campaigns accordingly in order to maintain maximum engagement. 

You can view heatmap for read, clicks, and unique clicks of messages. Simply use the dropdown menu at the top right to change the graph type.

The heatmap shows weekly data with columns showing days and rows showing hourly division. Each cell shows the number of times the event is performed in that particular hour of the day. The event can be message read, click, or unique click depending on the type of heatmap you’ve selected. You can hover your cursor over any cell for more information.

Analysis of specific campaigns

To evaluate the performance of a specific campaign, you have two options. Firstly, you can click on the campaign's name in the WhatsApp report section mentioned earlier. Alternatively, you can navigate to the campaigns section, click on the three-dotted button next to your WhatsApp campaign, and choose the analytics option.

Regardless of the method you choose, both will lead you to the same campaign analytics window. This window displays various tabs, including campaign info, campaign stats, activity, device info, click stats, revenue, and error stats. Let's explore each tab to gain a better understanding.

Campaign info

The initial tab displays essential details regarding your campaign, including the name, label, audience, target settings (Conversion tracking, UTM parameters, etc.), template information, schedule status, and more. Certain options are tailored to each account, showcasing only the settings you have chosen. Any settings that have not been applied will not be shown in this part of your account.

Campaign stats

You can then proceed to select 'Campaign Stats' in order to delve into the analytics of your WhatsApp campaign. In this area, you will find key metrics that gauge the effectiveness of your campaigns. These metrics encompass the total sent messages, delivered messages, read messages, clicks, and unique clicks for this specific campaign. Additionally, you will see the total number of transactions, total revenue generated, and total failures.

Scroll down to access the report for a specific date range. Utilize the filter feature to specify the date range. With this filter, you can once again see the same metrics as before, including total sent, delivered, read, and more, but only for the chosen date range.

Further down, you will find a trend for these analytics. This trend will display data according to the date filter you have set.

The trend is initially displayed as daily data, but you have the option to switch to weekly, monthly, or annual trends using the graph type dropdown. Moreover, you can also switch to a bar graph format by selecting the appropriate option from the top right corner.

Additionally, if you'd like, you have the option to view these statistics in a tabular format. Simply select the table option located at the top right corner.

Activity

Here, you can see the logs of the users who have engaged with the campaign. Simply click on the activity drop-down menu and choose from a list of events such as sent, delivered, read, or clicked. For example, if you select the event "sent," you will see a list of users to whom the campaign was sent. If you choose "delivered," you will see a list of users to whom the message was delivered, and so on.

Country info

The chart below shows the number of clicks or unique clicks from different countries around the world. You can use the date filter to view the statistics for a specific time period. Additionally, you can select the activity type to see analytics for total clicks or unique clicks.

After applying the filters, you will be able to see a global map with colored countries indicating the origin of the clicks. The darker the color, the higher the number of clicks. Simply hover your cursor over any country to see the specific number of clicks.

If you continue scrolling down, you'll find another option to explore trends specific to each city. Just choose the country from the dropdown menu at the top right corner, and a bar graph will show you the number of clicks from various cities within that country.

Device info

Just like the country info, the device info tab displays the number of clicks or unique clicks coming from various operating systems during a specific date range.

Furthermore, you have the option to access this information in a tabular format by choosing the table option located in the upper right corner.

Click stats

Here, you can see the breakdown of total clicks, unique clicks, and the list of links used in the campaign, as well as the clicks and unique clicks generated from each link.

Revenue 

In the 'Revenue' section, you will find the following information:

  • Total campaign revenue: This indicates the overall income generated from the WhatsApp campaign.
  • Average order value: This displays the typical average value of orders placed through the WhatsApp campaign.
  • Average revenue per converted user: This reveals the average earnings per customer who converted through the WhatsApp campaign.

You can filter this data for a specific time range by using the date filter provided above.

Below this, you will see daily trends in the form of a bar graph. You can choose to view either the Events (the number of orders placed) or revenue (revenue generated from orders). To switch between these options, simply click on the option provided in the top right corner.

Error stats

In this part, you have the opportunity to examine any errors that may have occurred during the sending or delivery of your campaign. The error statistics provide valuable insights, including:

1. Delivery error trends: Here, you can see the overall number of errors, broken down into rejected messages and failures. Additionally, you'll find a table that highlights the specific reasons for campaign failures, along with the corresponding number of failed campaigns for each reason. 

A "failure" indicates that the message was sent out but could not be delivered to the intended recipient. This could happen for various reasons, such as the vendor server being down, incorrect API credentials, vendor credits being finished, and more.

2. Discarded trends: This section displays the total count of discarded messages. It also includes a pie chart that illustrates the various reasons for message discards and the percentage they contribute to the total number of discards.

A "discard" refers to a campaign that was intentionally not sent out by the system. This can happen if the message does not meet certain criteria, such as invalid or unsubscribed users, frequency capping, DND, duplicate users, and more.
